1 – Where do we want to be a week from now?
2 – Where can we sleep along the way?
3 – What does Google recommend for a route?
That simple process landed us on an old railway trail in the town of Cle Elum WA that would allow us to ride all the way to Issaquah without touching a highway (or freeway or interstate… I’m not entirely sure the difference but they all seem way too busy). Leaving Cle Elum we found our way to the Iron Horse trail head and within minutes we ran into another bike touring couple on their way home to Seattle. After taking photos of all of their maps and getting a number of recommendations for camping we were feeling pretty confident about this route.
